Blockbuster or video store visits. Was always epic when you made the trip down tot he local video store to rent whatever was the new release or just to get some classics. I vividly remember we always seemed to end up renting the WWE royal rumble, where Stone Cold and Vince McMahon end up fighting each other in the hospital. I am sure my parents were always thrilled when we ended up with that one again.
Memphis Grizzlies - Power Ranking
All RankingsAgain the Grizz seem to have languished more than anyone thinks they should have, especially the GM. as the team once again boasts one of the best looking and deep rosters on paper, but again has been hovering around that Play In spot and now sitting in 6th in the West. Brown is a stud, JJJ is still there and been out most of the back end which helps explain the 7-5 run home, but maybe he'll be back to trouble the top of the West in the playoffs? The team is in a great spot with amazing talent and a motivated GM, so they're only going to finally find that formula and take the league by storm eventually.
I am kind, sentimental, reflective and enjoy theatre. In the past, I thought I had found the one and it ended up fizzling out, burning me spiritually and financially. However, I am in a good place now and am happy to dream big again. I don’t tend to make too big of a change in my life, and my loyalty never waivers to those that I hold close/dear.
The President’s Man - Solid and dependable, but not quite making waves.
Breaking Bad - "I am the one who knocks." Started from humble beginnings, looked like a mild-mannered also-ran and slowly cooked up something terrifying over the course of the season. Nobody saw them coming. Nobody believed in the transformation. Now they're one of the most dangerous teams in the league and everyone's scared to trade with them because they always seem to know something you don't. Like Walt in his prime, this team has fully embraced their power. Say their name. Say. Their. Name
The No-Nonsense High Achiever: A stacked classroom: Jaren Jackson Jr., Jaylen Brown, and Kon Knueppel-level talent everywhere. Expectations are high because there are no weak links—everyone contributes, and the depth keeps performance elite. "He doesn't let up, but he gets results," Alumni Student regains.
Bam FOR Kon/Queen/Aaron Wiggins. I’ve gotta say, in the moment I was really undecided on how I felt on this deal. What Bam IS and what he brings in game doesn’t need to be repeated. In terms of getting REAL tangible value back for a guy of his calibre… The return back then seemed to leave a lot to be desired. Dont get be wrong, I was very high on Kon and Queen and what their possible skillset could offer and evolve into… BUT I just didn’t even dream that Kon would be THIS NBA ready from the jump. It would seem that this move was a home run for the Grizz and as much as I hate giving David any sort of props… I’ll live with the thought of him sitting here reading this, with that big dumb face of his and that smug grin plastered across it.
Waving at wrong person - I am sure I am not the only one to have done this, but have you ever been out and about and you see someone that you don't recognise looking at you and then they wave. You are a nice and respectful person so you wave back, only to instantly realise they were not in fact looking or waving at you but to someone behind you. You immediately feel like an idiot and embarrassed, even though no one else probably noticed you still feel it. The Memphis roster is stacked but unfortunately they had an off week and are maybe feeling some unnecessary embarrassment.
Bad news: JJJ is out for the remainder of the season. A huge blow to a playoff hopeful Grizzlies. Good news: Cam Thomas and GG Jackson should both be getting ratings boosts in the near future.
Forrest Gump (1994) – nobody expected them to be here, but they just keep running past teams. What a journey this team has been on! They have rode the waves, the ups and downs, and taken it in their stride. The Grizz now sit with a 8-4 record! Life truly is like a box of chocolates for this team - never quite knowing what they're going to get!
I am absolutely JEALOUS of the talent this team has, Jaylen Brown, Kon, Stephon Castle and Derik Queen? My goodness. Team is loaded, young and is NOT a team I'd want to see in the playoffs.
Chess Captain- Dux potential, this guy is brainy and driven. He spends countless hours reading, studying and attending chess tournaments. He's a problem solver, forward thinker and has solutions before most people know there's a problem. Einstein in the making.
Sonic the Hedgehog - Fast, explosive, sometimes reckless. Speed and athleticism fuel runs - but slip ups can undo them just as fast. All the coins spilling! At their peak, the Grizz are truly terrifying. The size and strength that can win titles, while other times, they find themselves unable to unlock that flow.
Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis Passionate and intense, it explores commitment despite pain. The theme mirrors a team pushing through high-pressure moments with heart. The team continues to push on after multiple setbacks
Defeater: Memphis mirrors Defeater’s strength as a fully realized ensemble rather than a top-heavy act. Defeater’s sound is rooted in post-hardcore but built on depth, with layered guitars, a rhythm section that carries real weight, and a catalog designed to be understood as a complete body of work rather than a collection of standout singles. The Grizzlies operate the same way. Jaylen Brown provides consistent high-level play, while the frontcourt rotation of Zach Edey, Jaren Jackson Jr., Derrick Queen, and Nikola VuÄević gives Memphis flexibility, size, and matchup control. Around that foundation, younger pieces like Stephon Castle, Cam Thomas, and Kon Knueppel inject pace and scoring punch without overwhelming the structure. Like Defeater, this team is not defined by one moment or one voice. It is driven forward by how its parts complement each other across different lineups and situations, making Memphis one of the deeper and more sustainable teams in the league.
Three of Swords: A card of heartbreak, disappointment, or painful truth. Encourages emotional release and healing. It feels like the Grizzlies took a hit a few years ago that caused a pain that is still lingering. Consistent 'pilot error', consistent injuries, misfortune, disappointing results in important games. The once proud and strong Grizz are still looking to complete their redemption arc.
The Grizzlies at #21 are playing like a team stuck in permanent ‘rebuilding but pretending not to be’ mode. Memphis isn’t hopeless but right now they’ve got the collective vibe of a pickup squad that almost wins a lot… but never actually does.
Childhood Reference: The dodgeball sniper.Memphis is that kid in dodgeball who never misses. Jaylen Brown is throwing heaters from the back line and daring you to get closer. Almost like he can read the ball in the air, the Dodgeball kid, ellusive and calm springs out from the crowd - ethereal! Memphis have started strong, and have plenty of balls (young rookies) in reserve ready to fire.
