Ivey was the leader in assist amongst rookies this week with 6.3 AST. Scoring wise, he is putting up numbers of a 3rd man, but he's the 2nd best scorer on his team. This probably explains why Utah is struggling to get Ws. They need a secondary scorer. But they got their first W of the season. In that game, Ivey put up 16 PTS 2 REB 4 AST. He was the 3rd most productive player in that game behind Beal and Franz. He shot 0.400 from the field and 0.250 from three with a BPM of -0.8. I feel like Ivey was a bit more inconsistent than the numbers show. He shot really well 2 games and stunk the other 2.
Marjon is kind of at the bottom of this list. He kind of makes the cut because he was able to put up 6.8 PTS off the bench this week. He was very inconsistent though. He only shot 0.350 from the field and 0.230 from three with a BPM of +1.5. You like to see that he's getting assists off the bench though.
Shaedon was the 2nd highest scoring rookie this week behind just Bennedict Mathurin. For the first week this year, Shaedon was the star of the team. I guess you could say that the last 2K update did a number for him. The Suns didn't do so hot, but they managed to get their 2nd win of the season. And in that game, Shaedon was the star. He put up 24 PTS 3 REB 4 AST. He shot 0.500 from the field and was 0.530 from three with a BPM of -2.3. He hit the 2nd most three pointers this week with 10 made. But guys... He shot 0.530 from three!! On 19 attempts!!
Dalen Terry has taken the starting lineup over D'Angelo Russell all year and it doesn't look like DLo will get the starting gig back this season. He was the 3rd best scorer on the Indiana Pacers roster and leads the team in assists by just a smidge. He's 6'7 and able to guard positions 1 thru 3. He shot 0.440 from the field and 0.310 from three with a BPM of -3.8. He was also the leader in steals amongst rookies this week with 6 steals this week. Is he a glitch or is he the real deal? He was a late riser in the 2022 draft and was heavily reached upon by the Chicago Bulls as a raw upside project, but he's not very raw here in the NSL.
The Miami Heat finally got some wins this year. Most of it is attributed to Malcolm Brogdon and Ben Simmons carrying the team, but some of it can be attributed to Jalen Duren's rim protection. He's been a block monster. His best performance was putting up 7 blocks and 2 steals in the win against the Detroit Pistons. Like Jabari Smith Jr, he also logged his first 20+ game of the season. He's put up a lot of double digit games this season, but this is the first time he broke the 20 plane. It was a loss to the Denver Nuggets but the statline he put up was 22 PTS 20 REB 3 BLK. He led the week in blocks amongst rookies with 16 blocks this week and he tied Paolo for 2nd place in steals with 5 steals. He shot 0.620 from the field with a BPM of +3.0.
Jabari was the 4th man on Indiana Pacers this week. He's been pretty average the whole week. But it took one game to put Jabari on this list. Jabari hit 20+ points for the 1st time this year in a close game against the Brooklyn Nets. He put up 23 PTS 11 REB 5 AST and they won the game by one point. For the most part though, Jabari has been a single digits kind of guy. Was this a fluke or will we see more big games like this from Jabari? Jabari shot 0.480 from the field and 0.400 from three with a BPM of -7.3.
The Clippers had a perfect week in the post-Giannis era. This is largely due to the additions of the two star rookies Paolo Banchero and Bennedict Mathurin. There was only 1 game where he looked pretty average. He only scored 8 PTS. In the other games he scored 17, 27, and 27. Two of these games he was pretty on par with Bennedict Mathurin. The last game, he was the man. He shot 0.640 from the field and 0.333 from three while sporting a BPM of +10.5.
Nembhard probably doesn’t stand a chance at getting ROTW, but being a runner up is impressive. Once you get through all the big names like Mathurin, Shaedon, Paolo, and Ivey, you’ll see Andrew Nembhard at 9th place in scoring and 8th place in assists. And he’s doing this in half the minutes played (14.3 MINS). His field goal percentages are good, but he struggles to hit threes. At the beginning of the week, he looked better than Coby White who was starting. But at the end of the week, Coby looked better. There was one game where Nembhard was the only person on the Atlanta squad to score double digits. However, this was also the game where Atlanta lost to the Raptors by 57 points!
LaRavia was counted on to be the 3rd scorer this week. He was horrible in the Detroit game scoring only 4 points, but they still won the game. In the other games he scored 16, 13, and 13. Half of the games he's shooting really nicely and the other half is just horrible. He's boom or bust at this stage of his NSL career. He shot 0.380 from the field and 0.400 from three with a BPM of 5.0.
Mathurin didn't have any bad games at all. There was one game where Paolo carried the team, but it's not like Mathurin was doing bad. He's been solid all week. The lowest game he had was 16 PTS. The highest was 29 PTS. Most of the times these guys were pretty equal in terms of team contribution. Mathurin shot 0.400 from the field and 0.460 from three with a BPM of +9.8. He hit the most 3s this week with 16 made.
